GUADALAJARA, JALISCO (30/Dec/2012).-the Government of Jalisco ends six years with an investment record in science and technology. Between 2007 and 2012 is exercised more than two thousand 184 million pesos in the background of science and technology, as well as the contribution to the economic promotion.
This spending drove the national ninth in “Innovation and sophistication”, according to the index of competitiveness 2012 made by the Mexican Institute for competitiveness (Imco) to Jalisco. However, Francisco Medina Gómez, director of the State Council of science and technology of the State (Coecytjal), highlights that Jalisco is the second entity in science indicators, such as members of the national system of researchers, publications and grants, among others.
On State spending, “is aimed at the development of scientific and technological research projects; equipment, instruments, materials and scholarships; projects of modernization, innovation and technological development; “disclosure, incentives and awards to technological researchers, the development of projects for promotion of industry, trade and services, tourism and culture, development of productive infrastructure and investment and employment promotion”, reveals of Adamin mirror Robinson, director of internal audit and institutional development of the Ministry of finance.
For the Secretariat of planning six years recorded a positive trend, but underlines a drop in this year, which resulted in the breach of the goals scheduled for public spending on Science and technology as a percentage of the product internal gross (GDP) of the State: the goal was to reach 0.05% but only arrived in 0.0395%. “The goal had not been reached by almost 60% reduction suffered in 2012 the budget for science and technology: while in 2011 the State Fund had 200 million pesos, this year received (opening balance) 78 million 728 thousand 253 pesos (78% of the established only met)”, regrets the Coecytjal.
